8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
~Tyndale House Publishers: Holy Bible : New Living Translation. 2nd ed. Wheaton, Ill. : Tyndale House Publishers, 2004, S. Php 4:8-9
This is my goal. This final thing. To fix my thinking--in focus and quality. Reading this section of Scripture again I see it requires community. At least a substantial plurality of thinkers (God included, yes, but all my brothers and sisters) working together pursuing the highest of 'whats': truth, honor, justice/correctness, purity, intense and awe inspiring pleasure for every sense across the spectrum of experience, and that which lifts each of us a distance above what we all know we are (oh, how I treasure the heroes I have in the past and now witness). No, this endeavor is not new but it feels most necessary for me now. So. Here we go--those who will travel with me--let's think. Not about the frail fictions we might create but let's wrap our minds and apply the effort it takes to move completely through each thought when it is clear to us that it deserves our attention and the quality of the object of our investigation is bouncing off the ceiling of our ever-increasing (hopefully) realizations.
Now, working with what we have, no matter how meager, let's pull together and sharpen one another.
What do you think?
